Answer:
Apple first introduced the iPhone on January 9, 2007 at the MacWorld convention in San Francisco, California. Since then it has become a best selling cell phone throughout the world. The iPod Touch was introduced as an alternative to the iPhone, intended primarily for music, applications (or apps), images and videos but supposedly without the capability to use the device as a phone. Since the initial introduction of the iPod Touch, apps and methods have been developed to allow you to use your iPod Touch to make telephone calls, effectively making the iPod Touch into an iPhone. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Things You'll Need iPhone microphone headset VOIP phone account Wireless Internet connection Instructions Using Line2 Open the Apple app Store on your iPod Touch. Hit the "Search" button and type in "Line2." You must pay $1.00 to download the application onto your device. Agree to the payment and choose to download the app. Open the Line2 application. The Line2 service costs $10.00 per month. You must fill in your information when you initially open the application to set up an account. The program will require your name, contact information and a payment method to use their service. Determine the new phone number Line2 has issued to you. Line2 allows you to make free phone calls and send free text messages through a wireless Internet connection. You can now make calls through your iPod Touch by using a microphone headset anywhere you have a wireless Internet connection to your device. Using Fring Open the Apple app store on your iPod Touch. Search for the "Fring" application. Download it onto your device for free. Open the Fring application on your iPod Touch. Enter in your contact information for your voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) service that you use, such as Skype, SIP or Google Talk. If you do not have an account with a VOIP service you will need to open one from any one of the services mentioned above. Insert the microphone headset into the iPod Touch, dial a number and talk anywhere you have a wireless Internet connection. Using Jalah Go into the Apple app store on your iPod Touch and search for the Jalah application. Download the application onto your iPod Touch. Open the application and enter in the necessary information to set up a Jalah account. This includes determining which countries you want to make phone calls from. Begin making calls through your iPod Touch with a microphone headset to over 200 countries around the world. The cost to use Jalah depends on where you call to and how often you use the service. You will be charged on a per minute basis but you can also make free calls to other users who have a Jalah account.
