Is gmail pop or imap?

If you want to centralize your mail from Outlook Express and from various Gmail accounts into one central Gmail account - do you need to activate POP or IMAP?

  • Answer:

Not necessarily. I have already done this with other e-mail accounts. I have found that Gmail is flexible in its methods. The easiest way to centralize mail is to have all other accounts forward mail to the central account. Almost all e-mail accounts have some sort of "Forward" option. In Gmail, this can be found in "Settings" under "Forwarding and POP/IMAP." There's no reason to use these unless you need to retrieve e-mail with an external client (which I don't like to do; I like Gmail's interface). If you need to do this, ask another question or contact me. Congratulations - you are well on your way to simplified e-mail!
