Answer:
basically a hangover is your body's response to being poisoned by all the alcohol toxins you consumed the night before. when you have a hangover you probably have a few of these symptoms- headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, loss of appetite, upset stomach, diarrhea, shaking, excessive thirst, vomiting and dry mouth. alcohol is a diuretic, which means you've lost a lot of water, in result, your liver and kidneys can't process the alcohol properly to rid your body of toxins. drinking a lot of water is the most important thing because it will rehydrate your body and make you feel less nauseous, and also drinking pedialyte helps to boost your immune system and gain back the vitamins you loose due to over drinking. tomato juice and other sugar-free juices are good to drink too. the biggest mistakes a lot of people make with a hangover are drinking more alcohol, coffee or anything with caffeine and consuming a lot of sugar. these will slow down your recovery or may even make your symptoms worse. with a hangover, you want to avoid acetaminophen, found in over the counter meds like Tylenol. it's another mistake people make because when you mix acetaminophen with alcohol or to nurse a hangover, it causes liver damage. ibuprofen doesn't mix well with alcohol and hangovers either. if you're not too queasy you can take aspirin for your headache, but it can cause stomach irritation. many people say that when you're hungover all you should do is rest. getting some sleep is very important, but if your body can handle it, you should go for a run or even just walk around the block. exercise increases circulation and speeds the toxins out of your body, helping you get better faster. a few tips on how to prevent hangovers- have a small glass of water before you start drinking and in between drinks, you also want to stay away from drinking too much dark liqueur, such as rum, brandy, whiskey, tequila and red wine. they contain more cogeners than clear liquids like vodka, gin, sake and white wine. try not to drink too many carbonated drinks, as well like beer or any kind of alcohol mixed with sodas. they speed up your body's alcohol absorption process, getting you drunk quicker.
