What are the differences between ionic bonds covalent bonds hydrogen bonds and metallic bonds?

Answer:
Ionic bonds are bonds between one metal and one non-metal atom. A transfer of an electron/electrons goes to the non-metal from the metal atom. Covalent bonds are bonds where a pair of electrons are shared between two non-metal atoms. Metallic Bonds consist of metal ions being embedded in a 'sea' of delocalized electrons. They have strong electrostatic forces of attraction between the nucleus and the delocalized electrons. Hydrogen bonds are more complicated - it is a type of intermolecular force. Whereas the above are intramolecular. Hydrogen bonds occur when a hydrogen atom is bonded to a highly electronegative atom, this gives the hydrogen a partially positive charge, this allows lone pairs of electrons of the high electronegative atom on another molecule to attract to the hydrogen, this is a hydrogen bond.
