Why use intrauterine pressure catheters instead of fetal scalp electrodes?
-
-
Answer:
Intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPCs) are used to measure the strength of uterine contractions. Fetal scalp electrodes (FSEs) are used to monitor the baby's heartbeat. They are 2 totally separate things & can be used either together or separately or not at all. They would replace the external monitor belts that you wear during labor.
