Why Cumulus Clouds Rarely Form In Summer Over Lake Okeechobee During Daylight Hours?

Why do you have more hours of daylight in the summer months and less hours of daylight in the winter months?

  • Answer:

The Earth's tilt is on a 23.5 degree axis. While Earth is rotating at an angle, it's also going around the sun, in an elliptical orbit, not a circle. While winter is in progress, we are tilted away from the sun. This causes less daylight hours. Meanwhile, in the summer, we are tilted towards the sun. That causes use to receive more daylight. The hemispheres are divided as well. While the north is having winter, the southern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, and is having summer. Hope this helps.
