Why does osmosis happen?

If the concentration of a sugar solution is lower outside the cell than inside the cell which will happen by osmosis?

  • Answer:

In the absence of any opposing force, water tends to flow across semipermeable membranes. It will do this until the solute concentration on one side of the membrane is equal to the solute concentration on the other side. That is osmosis.
