No degree is needed to become an EMT. Just enough common since to not get everyone around you killed. It's not rocket science as an EMT, just getting the patient from wherever you find them to the hospital in a little better shape than you found em. Scary but true. You do need a degree. You need your AA because you have to know how to test blood sugars, read heart rate levels, know CPR, know how to extract from a vehicle. It is a complex job that is greatly unappreciated by most people. You do not need a degree. Anyone can be an EMT after attending an EMT-B or EMT-I course for basic medical training. All the skills required by an EMT are taught through a licensed training facility. I achieved mine through online courses and exams. There are required clinicals and ambulance service before achieving required hours for certification.
