Many states are still in the process of assessing the nursing shortage which have not been published at the time. Thus, the states with evident or stated nursing shortages are as follows. Alabama Colorado Florida Hawaii Idaho Iowa Missouri Nevada New Jersey New Mexico North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Rhode Island Texas Utah Wyoming The majority of the states that have a nursing shortage are the ones that have either a large rural population or a large number of retiree.
