Can you buy a cell phone from one company and get a plan from a different company?

-
Answer:
Yes. The only thing to look out for is that the phone you purchase may be locked to the network you buy it from, meaning no other carriers sum cards will work in it. You may have to pay a fee to unlock it. So check with the salesperson before purchasing it. Also, some plans must have a phone attached to them. The phone company I work for has a cap plan which can only be provisioned if you also get a phone as part of the contract. In this case, you could still put the sim card in the phone you have purchased separately, and sell the other one on ebay, or keep it as a spare.
