How to Build Sub Box 12

-
Answer:
Subwoofer boxes are necessary if you are looking to install subwoofers inside your car. These boxes not only hold the subwoofer, but they also intensify the volume of the subwoofer. A subwoofer box must be made to accommodate one particular subwoofer. If the internal volume is to large or to small, than the subwoofer will not be able to perform at a high level. Constructing a subwoofer box may be a little time consuming, but it is much more affordable than purchasing one at a car audio store. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Things You'll Need Measuring tape Medium density fiberboard Jigsaw Pencil Terminal cup Compass Carpenter's glue Drill Screwdriver 2-inch screws Silicone caulking Instructions Calculate the size that your subwoofer box needs to be. Not all 12-inch subwoofers require the same internal volume. The manufacturer's manual will have recommendations for the interior volume of the subwoofer box. Also, measure the depth of your subwoofer and add two inches to this measurement to determine the minimum depth of the subwoofer box. Consult a subwoofer enclosure calculator to help determine the dimensions that are particular to your subwoofer. Cut the six sides of the subwoofer box out of medium density fiberboard. After you cut each panel, label it with a pencil. Cut out both the terminal cup hole and the subwoofer hole. The terminal cup should be located on the back panel. Cut the terminal cup hole by making a hole with the drill, then inserting the tip of the jigsaw in the hole. Place a compass in the middle of the front panel and create a 12" diameter circle. Drill a hole anywhere in the middle of the circle and insert the jigsaw. Cut out the circle. Attach the six sides of the box together. Pre-drill three holes along each side and insert carpenter's glue along the seam. Fasten the panels together by inserting a 2-inch screw in each of the pre-drilled holes. Also, screw in the terminal cup to the backside of the subwoofer box using screws that were supplied with the terminal cup. Seal the subwoofer box by using silicone caulking. Place a small amount of the caulking along all of the interior seams. A small palm-sized caulking tube will allow you to reach all areas of the subwoofer box. Allow the subwoofer box to dry for 24 hours.
