Want to buy about 1000 local business mailing list?

You don't want to maintain a mailing list but instead want to send your business information to a list server that serves academic scholars--how do you do that?

  Boy, that is a tough one and I'm no guru. But here's best that I can think of...there is a really powerful php based program called WordPress. It is multi-platform and runs native. They have added so much stuff in ver. 2.0 I can't keep up. It'll do what you want, it's just figuring out how, because the documentation is lousy. The only people that know what it can do are not writing the docs, yet. But, if you know a little PHP then well, you're ahead of me 'cause I'm a total nOOb when it comes to that. But, I didn't mention that it's free. They will proably help you on a project like this if you met them halfway. And, come to think of it, this wouldn't be that hard. Just use the export function and list global variables as long as you know what to define. I would have no clue on that. I wish I could help more, but I've only had it for 3 days myself.
