Do California High School teachers get tenure?
-
-
Answer:
As a general rule, teachers serve 2 years in probationary status. They are considered to have tenure on their first day in paid service in their 3rd year of employment. In today's budger climate, tenure does not guarantee that a teacher won't get laid off, but it does give them additional rehire rights within the district if they are ever laid off.
