What are places that hire for jobs young people?

Where are some places I can hire someone to do little coding jobs that aren't worth the effort of a Rentacoder?

  • I just want to post simple one-hour scripts I need and the RentaCoder and eLance seem a little too cumbersome for that purpose. Is there a place I can post those that's a little more simple? I tried IRC freelance channels but the ones on Freenode are always empty.

    I've never seen this done, but you might want to talk to your local high school computer teacher. These sound like projects that would be good for a high school programmer, and you might get cheap labor, as well as get a sneak preview for some local talent for the summer. That's how I got my first paid programming gig, although I will say that I have no idea about how the current labor laws would work in this situation.

Your local http://www.craigslist.org/ should be perfect for that. I find stuff like that on there all the time. Plus, if you don't mind getting people out of your area you can look in areas that have a lower cost of living (which typically means they would accept a lower rate).

Check out http://www.freelancer.com/ I've used them once before and it was pretty easy. You can post your project for free and then people bid on them and you can set goals on which you only pay them if your goals are met.
