How do you create a Non-Profit Organization at the least costly?

How can my organization create its own branded credit card?

  • I have seen several organizations offer branded credit cards (private label credit cards) with their own reward programs.  Amazon Visa is an example.   How can my organization create its own card?  At what subscriber numbers does the private label make sense?

  • Answer:

Part of it depends on what you're trying to achieve. If it's all about money then you can do what most causes do (https://www.harvardcard.com) and turn your database into moneymakers.  Harvard makes a commission for every new cardholder they sign up, paid from Barclays Bank. In this case they would have done the deal with Barclays. If it's all about encouraging affinity to your company (https://faq.orbitz.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7694) then you can approach MBNA or Capital One directly and they'll engineer a custom solution for you. In this case Capital One wins big because they'll get access to Orbitz's customer base to market other Capital One services and products to. Orbitz wins because people will earn points to use back at Orbitz (rather than at http://Delta.com or Kayak). How many cardholders is enough? Depends on the company that you partner with, it differs. The good news is that you don't need to be a $100m company. Hope that helps!

There is an entire industry of private label credit cards.  Where are you located?  In the US there are many possibilities (Capital One, Citi, GE ...).   Watch out for facilitators who will triple your costs and, instead, work directly with an issuing bank.
