How to use Bing's search API?

Are there public images that I can search, copy and re-use on my website and that are accessible through an API?

  • I'm developing an application where I have profiles of companies. The thing is that all profiles need to have an image(The application actually don't work without an image). I just think it is the most user friendly if I have an image search directly on the form inputs. Instead of uploading an image, the user simply select an image which is available on the (entire) web. My application than downloads it and stores it on a server. The only API i can find that has no limititation in terms of amount of usage is Bing Image API. I have read there Terms of Usage, it states that I can copy intermediate results(What does that mean?)

  • Answer:

Yes. You can use the Flickr API and focus just on Creative Commons-licensed photos that permit commercial use. My understanding is that it's a bit complicated; you might want to check in with Flickr's Flickr API group - http://www.flickr.com/groups/api - on how to limit your API access that way.
