Surgical masks?

Why do people who know they are ugly and feel very insecure about it not wear surgical masks?

  • I wonder why people who really know that they are ugly do not wear masks (surgical masks). Ugliness can be debilitating, and I know it from personal experience. Why not wear mask to escape the undesirable effects ? I understand it might be bizarre for people to look at. (At first at least) But if enough people start doing it, I think it could be incorporated into the culture and the social consciousness well. These masks are really popular In japan, with lots of people wearing them for reasons unrelated to health. It might also take away the pressure of having to put on makeup. I think it will be a social crutch for people like me who suffer from severe anxiety. Any thoughts would be welcome :) P.S I'm not sure about security concerns in the US, which might indeed be a major factor. Though unlike a ski mask, it doesn't really complete obscure ones identity.

    Ugliness is a state of mind which is an outcome of low self esteem and low confidence. Accept people as they are. No need of any mask. Are you planning to open a mask maufacturing unit that is why you are trying to crop this idea in our minds? :-D

I like the idea of wearing one of them when I'm having a bad hair day. Those are the days when I don't want people to recognize me and stop me to try and strike up a conversation, in turn making me feel more awkward. But I think its too hot here in India for a mask like that. I'd drown myself in my sweat while perspiring like never before.
