Will Shanzhai Pad + Android make Shanzhai in China the next Silicon Valley?

I doubt that having two pieces of a hardware + software stack will make China the next Silicon Valley. I mean, I guess you COULD say that Silicon Valley was built on top of the success of a number of platforms: Wintel, the Internet, etc. But it wasn't about the innate characteristics of the platforms that caused Silicon Valley to become what it became. It has a lot to do, I suspect, with the following: Freaking smart people Stanford Track record Positive feedback loops Good weather For sure China will be a nexus of technology innovation driven business booms, but it's not reliant on the iPad + Android combo. Could be anything.

It might make a few of them the next Texas in term of becoming bigger players in the hardware business but not the next Silicon Valley. VC start up money (and good weather) has created an environment where a lot of innovative minds have gravitated to Silicon Valley and stayed there to build the companies that have come out of that environment. Its not a whole country its just an area in one state. There are a few hot spots of money/innovation in China but they're still small and not mature in terms of the funding and company building culture and process.

well, from a chinese coder's point, it's hard to catch up SV; the most important reason might be that we need safe and fair society; good law and fair execution; less corruption; tax/donations and so on are spent fairly and transparent.

Absloute Not ,Shaizhai will die . I am work on Huaqiang North Road ,Shenzhen,The biggest shanzhai maket ,from last year to now ,so many shanzhai statups died,here is reason : 1)Huawei and ZTE new android phone have good quality and low price ,only need 1000 rmb (Around 160 USD ) .I have see many people buy it ,and state policy support this companys ,So the shaizhai no competitive. 2)China people have more money than past year ,so they like Iphone ,Samsung ,Or Best quality Nokia .Only old people want the big noice shanzhai phone . 3)The worker fee is increase so fast ,raw material up now ,the shanzhai manufactor is very hard for earn money from the shanzhai phone . In the 2010 ,my company sold many shanzhai pads ,but last year and now ,little people can sell it . I trust shaizhai will die .
