  While it is not coming from an explicitly library science background, an edited volume called "Digital Media, Youth and Credibility" was published by MIT Press in 2007. See here: https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/digital-media-youth-and-credibility In the same vein, the editors of that volume have an additional empirical study on the same subject that came out in 2010: https://archive.org/details/9780262514750 While issues of information credibility and judgment online don't sound like they fully cover the scope of your question, this might be a good start. I might also check into the work of Ethan Zuckermans and danah boyd. Their research doesn't center wholly on your question, but touches on its themes on occassion. Hope this helps!
