I have heard that the jobs in the Aerospace industry are awarded only to US nationals due to the heavy control of the Govt. Wanted to know whether it is true and what options may International students take up after MS in the US or any other country?

I am a student of IIT BHU and pursuing Btech in Mechanical Engg. Based on my profile I may admissions in some good universities in the US in Aerospace Engg for my MS. My fields of interests are Aerodynamics, Aeromechanics and CFD. Just need some guidance as to how I should proceed towards my interests. I am open to any other country, no specific inclinations towards US. Yash Shah

Answer:
I do not know about laws in the US but let me tell you about India. If research is your main interest you can explore options in IISc. It has good opportunities in CFD,aerodynamics etc and also Pratt & Whitney has a research establishment related to aero engines in iisc campus. If you want to get exposure in working with real aircrafts and systems, you have NAL, HAL in Bangalore. Apart from these, big private establishments like UTC aerospace systems, Honeywell and many smaller Indian companies like park controls and communications, radel, quest etc have their establishments in Bangalore. But you can't expect the same paycheck like in the US here. Note: Bangalore is the aerospace hub of India.

This has been answered several times in the past week or two. ALL TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED NATIONS IMPOSE SOME LIMITS ON AEROSPACE EMPLOYMENT, PREFERRING CITIZENS. Reason: even when you are devoting your work entirely to, say, airliners, in aerospace you may need and have access to military information. So the US position on this is not unique. Despite this, I have had many foreign colleagues. If all you dream about are aircraft and/or spacecraft, FOLLOW YOUR DREAM. You will find a way.
