How to create a custom email template?

Can I use Constant Contact to create a custom email template that can be updated in its content without touching the code?

  • If the answer is no... Is there another service that allow that? If it's yes... How?

    Campaign Monitor does this if you add specific tags to your initial template. I don't remember them at the moment but they are super straightforward. If I had to guess, they're something like <$title> and <$description>. If you do the step by step template creation, it's pretty hard to mess up. I could do it and my HTML skills are minimal.

Constant Contact does not offer a "WYSIWYG" interface for people to modify their own custom templates. If you create your own template, you'll always have to update the code every time you want to send it out. If you're interested in other services that DO allow you to import your own template, try http://MailChimp.com as I believe they do.

I work for Constant Contact and while you cannot currently use your own code to create a“WYSIWYG” template on your own, you could easily customize and brand one of our pre-formatted templates with your own logo and colors. There is a great site, http://www.colorcop.net that will allow you to scroll over a color on your website and get that color’s hex value for use in the template. You could then use your company’s logo and images to brand the template.  Also, our Custom Services Team can create a "WYSIWYG" template based on your code for a fee if you didn’t want to customize a pre-formatted template.
