What is the difference between B.Tech I.T and C.S.E?

Which will be a better option for me who likes both CS and chem: DTU BTech in CSE or St. Stephen's BSc Hons. in chem?

  • Plz also tell about future study optns & placements & campus life (hostels, sports, peer group, environment) too? Sme1  says that stephens will shape personality and u will get post like CEO  and sme1 says btech is far more better than bsc. Its very confusing  actually.... so plz help.

A2A. I'm sorry but I'm not eligible to answer this question. I have no idea about the colleges you mentioned. All I can say is, whatever you choose to do, choose it with all your heart. All the best :)

I would say go for B.Sc.(Hons.) in chemistry only if you are willing to put in the time and effort to top it up with an M.Sc. and, preferably, a PhD if you wish to pursue a career in teaching and research. You could take the civil services route as an alternative to post-graduation. However, if you are really passionate about coding and a well paying job is your short term aim, then DTU CS is the right thing for you. You would always have the option to go for an MBA or an M.Tech. later. That said, it would be better to A2A someone from the concerned colleges to get firsthand information on campus life, placements, etc.

Thanks for A2A. First of all, congratulations for landing in such a situation that you have the options of choosing among the best.  You have two paths in front of you and only one can be chosen. You need to think where do you want to see yourself after 5 or 7 years from now on. St. Stephens is one the best colleges in the country. Chem (Hons) is not a bad course either. Engineering on the other hand, is a different experience than a Bsc. course.  If MBA is your aim, go for Stephens and take a 3 yr course. In the end nothing will matter. Why do you want to waste an extra year in engineering then? If you are inclined towards coding and computer stuff, take up DTU CS without any second thought. You won't regret this in your life. And this might be the best decision you would have ever made. DTU has one of the best campus life. Dont worry about placements. It depends on how you spend your next four years of your life. Generally, placements are good. My Advice: go to for DTU CS. MBA OPTIONS will be stilll open but you will have to spend an extra year in engineering and it will be worth it. Good luck.

DTU CS is better in terms of the peers you will come across in your class and the seniors. Trust me life and overall experience would be entirely different in an engineering college with a residential hostel. Teaching quality is same everywhere.what would matter most is the time which you utilized during your undergrad. Go to DTU CS if you enjoy and is passionate about engineering. Answers "Sme1  says that stephens will shape personality and u will get post like CEO" Seriously? That means every classmate of yours would become a ceo ? Has it happened to everyone before ? no. Colleges doesn't decide if you will become a CEO or not. your passion does ! And definitely you will meet peers in  DTU who would like to start their own company. We engineers have sort of extra guts (and technical knowledge too). If you are getting seat in DTU CS go for it. Period. P.S.-Message me on quora if you want further clarification !
