We are going to Spain next year and want to rent an apartment in Barcelona. What area of town do we want to make our home for a few days?

Answer:
I would advise you to rent your apartment near the Gran VÃa dels Corts Catalanes, between La Monumental (the bullring) and the city center. It's close enough to the city center to be a pretty zone but not to be too expensive. Moreover, there are plenty of supermarkets and facilities that you may need during your stay.

Stay in El Born, it's a beautiful mix of local and popular, home to the Picasso museum and walking distance from major sites like Las Ramblas. Gorgeous boutiques, cute cafes and bustling nightlife!

I would recommend the most romantic neighbourhood of Barcelona situated just off the Sagrada Familia. I know you want to rent an apartment but have you considered staying in an apartment for free? I am sending you a link of a house in central Barcelona (http://www.casaversa.com/#/home/2488). It's listed on a home exchange website called CasaVersa (http://casaversa.com) definitely worth having a look at as it's totally free to browse houses and free to communicate with home exchange partners. Hope it helps and good luck with your search! Livia

Anywhere away from Las Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya and the Gothic Quarter would be my suggestion. Try Gracia, Les Corts or Sarria for accommodation. All old villages which were long ago swallowed up by Barcelona's expansion. Despite this they still manage to maintain a village feel whilst being close to the city centre.

Just a heads up for this one, having a vacay in spain is really a good experience and the people there are kind and hospitable and the places are great. I got my info in renting an apartment through a website checking and also it is suggested by my friend if in the future you'll go again you can check their site for more information http://yazooproperty.com/property-in-spain.html
