Do tech companies ask easier interview questions to graduate students from top universities like Carnegie Mellon and Georgia Tech as compared to other universities?
-
Why is it that students from such universities get internships and full time positions easily?Do companies have some kind of a quota system where they have to pick a specific number of students from top universities?
-
Answer:
No they don't. The interview process is pretty much the same for all universities. The difficulty is *getting* to the interview. One analogy that I like to use is that universities are like a department store. When you need a television set in the US, you go to somewhere like Best Buy or Fry's Electronics. When you need interns, you go to a university, where a friendly salesperson in career services will sell you interns. If you have a university with good career services, they will market their graduates to companies, and work with those companies to see that that the company recruits interns from that university.
