How to get him to talk?

How do I at least get him to talk to me without it being awkward and what do I do? PS: please don't say get over him because if I could get over him then I would

• I really like this guy and have for 5 years now.  I told someone who I should not have trusted and he found out that I liked him 2 years back.  We used to be really close, but now we are not anymore now that he knows.  I don't know what to do to make him like me, nor how to start with a conversation with him.  When I try all I end up doing is nagging him (it's a self defense mechanism I naturally learned at home) or blushing.  I have really tried to get over him and find a new crush, but I cannot.  He may like me but because of our different groups at school, he may find it weird to ask me out.  Everyone at school knows I like him and if he were to ask anyone out they would agree on the spot though they won't admit.  I really want to get him to ask me out to the dance we have coming up but we don't even have each others numbers.  How do I at least get him to talk to me without it being awkward and what do I do?   I don't think you can talk to him without it's being awkward. So you'll have to pick between 1) talking to him, or 2) not being awkward. That's your decision, but I think there's a lot more to lose if you don't talk to him. Still, try not to nag him. And as for the dance, ask him out. Yeah, it may seem weird, but you think it would be weird for him to ask you out. Somebody has to be weird. You might as well get it over with.
