What is the best Basque Spanish restaurant (taking price/quality into consideration) in Madrid, Spain?

    I strongly discourage Txistu and Asador Donostiarra, that are more involved about renting their brand (built with that Real Madrid players go frecuently there) with clearly unworthy prices and a vulgar service and quality. Last time i was there, ad probably never will go back, there was a photographer making pics and trying to cheat people charging them around $20 per photo. Yes, it looks more like a theme park than a serious restaurant. Asador Gaztelu is much better than both and probably under half priced. No doubts.

You have several options, most of them being quite expensive, but, you could clearly say that Goizeko Wellington would be one of them, if you want sea food you should check out La Trainera, and there are other ones such as Lur Maitea, Txistu (where you'll bump into half the Real Madrid staff and players), Asado Donostiarra and Asador Gaztelu!

I agree with Andres Tobardo and I would say that the two best are Dantxari and Goizeko Wellington. They are great but I will choose other different restaurants in town. Don't miss Guisante Lagrima Week in Goizeko because it's the one and only.

I have been going to TXISTU for over 20 years but I tend to agree with Mr Diaz. One amusing thing is to watch the order takers dressed a little like Spanish Armada galleons and covered wit dignity untouched by friendliness or humanity. The photographer, why not if one can afford it but be careful - last time  a little food poisoning came with the gambas!

Asador Donostiarra and Txistu (asador donostiarra's spin off) are the best in Madrid. But I rather Asador Donostiarra than Txistu.
