What kind of architecture is the Grand Central Terminal?

If the kernel [migration] thread take extensive CPU resources (cause high load average) on a NUMA architecture, what kind of tunings are available?

  • This is a follow up question for [1], if we observed high load average due to [migration] thread, what is the best way to troubleshoot such issue? [1]

  • Answer:

Try cgroup applications or users by manually or automatically. Throttle applications or users if they are using too much io or CPU. Of course from then the process time for those becomes more but CPU usage overall looks better. If I was you I would check for longtime runningĀ  or stuck processes to make sure if they are still processing or completed but thread not dead. Check htop top iostat commands and troubleshoot for running processes and handle them based on their activity.
