How To Prepare For Iit Jee Aieee?

Many high school students go to Kota to prepare for engineering entrance exams (IIT-JEE, AIEEE, etc). Why don't they do the same for MBA entrance exams (CAT, XAT, CMAT)?

    Thanks for the ATA. Firstly, MBA is for graduates not for high school students. Coming to your query. The rise of coaching industry in Kota has an interesting story behind it. The foundation of the coaching industry was laid in circa 1980 by V.K Bansal, an engineer at a J.K. Synthetics factory, he began his teaching career by taking math tuitions for local students. Slowly, his students started clearing the IIT exams. In the mid-1990s, after the closure of the J.K. Synthetics factory, several engineers joined Bansal Classes. Many of them later started their own institutes. Thus, the starting of a coup. Once, they started producing top ranks there was no looking back. New contenders entered with cut throat competition and Kota became a hot spot for high school science students. Now, CAT coaching classes tend to start where they can find fresh MBA aspiring graduates. Metro cities and cities like Bhopal, Indore (with many Science, Art, Medical and over 100 engineering colleges) are perfect example of this.

Mostly for historical reasons. Kota was where some of the very first large scale coaching classes for IIT-JEE had their start, and from then it kind of snowballed. People heard that Kota was producing top rankers, so more kids went to Kota, and Kota produced more top rankers... And thus Kota's prominence. Why not for MBA? Well, for starters, a lot of the people who crack CAT are engineers, and they prepare alongside their college education, so there's little room for a huge hub for CAT preparations. Another large group is professionals, who, again, can't relocate to a random city just for coaching. That's one factor. Then, the number of people appearing for JEE is significantly higher than CAT, so there's a smaller market, so to speak.

Bansal was the person who started the first known coaching in Kota which became a huge success!! I've heard around 9 from his first batch of 27 students cleared the JEE! So, yea... you can say JEE is kind of a legacy of Kota!!

while preparing for IIT, students generally have no location constraint but while preparing for MBA, students (in final / pre-final year of their college) or working professionals have location constraints. So, MBA coaching is available in cities with companies or colleges.

It's obvious isn't it? Jee is given by students who can easily relocate whereas CAT is given mostly by professionals with jobs or by students completing their college degree..Those people cannot relocate just for coaching.

As mentioned earlier by Utkarsh Arya, MBA can be done only after graduation not after high school so that basically answers your question but to make it more clear i would throw some light on why there aren't enough coaching institutes for CAT, XAT, CMAT etc. Actually there are not too many colleges in and around Kota as there are in some other cities and a myriad of students preparing for these exams like to prepare alongside their college instead of dropping out for an year or so. So, lesser the demand, smaller the market. But may be in a few years, who knows, we may see them flourishing as well.

Well it could as simple as that... As we all know about the famous institutes in Kota for JEE preparation like Bansal classes, resonance, vibrant etc... but there are no good classes for MBA preparation in Kota, though they have TIME, PT education, etc but the level is very poor. Faculty can be as worse as possible and you have to call pen as 'Pain" in Hadoti accent.
