How do you write a Marketing Strategy?

What are some examples of exciting fields in marketing and/or branding research?

• I'm going to write my Bachelor's Thesis in Communication Science, and I'd like to actually contribute to something interesting. Some of my main interests are in brand strategy, the role of influentials (eg. in online purchase behavior) and in new ways of generating publicity (e.g. content marketing, virals) So if there is someone researching these fields, and is aware of some of the gaps that exist in the current scientific research, please let me know : ) P.S. I'm not some lazy student who wants to be spoonfed a topic, but I acknowledge that it can save me a lot of research myself. ;)
