Just like it is mandatory for every citizen of the country to pay the taxes to the Govt out of their income (ofcourse as per the Income Tax Slab), Why Govt doesnt make it mandatory for every citizen of the country to caste their vote?

I appreciate your thought. As Tarun mentioned, there are lot of benefits by making vote obligatory for every citizen . As few others mentioned, looking at the credentials of contestants these day, educated people will surely loathe voting. But that is not the wise thing to do. educated people are not helping the situation by choosing not to vote. when voting is made compulsory, educated people will raise their voice for better contestants. This can bring a lot of change slowly. The quality of contestants will improve over the time. But, the idea of making vote compulsory won't benefit political parties. They can not throw money, sentiments(caste,religion) and get votes any more. In this era of digital revolution, it's very easy to bring voting online. But they won't do it.

Would it help if you take a person, who loathes shopping, to market with you? We are better off than including the votes of person who do not care about their voting rights.

You are paying taxes to the government because you use the services provided by the government. Vote is to elect the legislators whom you want serve the people. People choose not to vote because they feel none of the contestants are worth their vote or they simply don't care who gets elected.               If I feel none of the persons who are contesting is good enough, I don't want to help any of them get elected and so refrain from voting. By making vote mandatory, you will be making me vote for some one I don't want to , and that's not how democracy works.               Also here you are assuming all the educated people will caste their votes wisely if voting is mandatory. If some one does not care enough to go vote voluntarily, he is better off not voting. Even if he/she is forced to vote, since they do not care anyway, the chances are they will misuse it, or vote without really giving much thought.              Either way it does not add any value.

The problem is then you can not have Vote Banks .. That is the reason.

For that to happen, first of all, we have to make some improvements in the method of voting. Currently, you can only vote where you are registered and considering the fact that most of the educated people work outside their home state , it is not possible for everyone to coincide their work schedule and voting dates properly to travel to their native place to exercise voting rights. So, if the system can be reformed and developed to let people vote from their current place of residence rather than only permanent residence, then surely you will see increase in voting population.
