  Not hindered by any prior knowledge of how living in a dictatorship is, I still thought myself fit to try to answer it, as II took your question as one asking for speculation. Having cleared that up, I would like to reply with a counter question: what would be the alternatives? A democracy? Quite hard to maintain as well, might very well be harder to maintain. An oligarchy? Possibly, but this is unstable as well: at some point, somebody gains the advantage. Chaos? As people get fed up with this, they might want to opt for the other options after a while, as they are less bad.
