Is Computer science a good degree?

How good are the following aspects of computer science? In which stream should I pursue a master's degree?

  • I have done a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and I am working on computer architecture, computer vision, embedded systems, FPGA, DSP, multiprocessor system-on-chip, high level synthesis, Zynq, raw socket programming, and Linux things in a company. If I want to pursue masters in US in computer science and after that want a high paying job in google, Facebook or any other computer science company. I will have one year of experience in these areas by the time I apply for masters.

  • Answer:

Sry, but Its not relevant to them, it is relevant to all Chip Giants like Qualcomm, Broadcom, Intel, Nvidia, Cisco, Samsung, Juniper, Xilinx, Altera etc. Bro, if i may, you must pursue your masters in ASIC (Computer Architectures) or Embbeded Systems as your knowledge is more relevant to these domains. However, if you still want to hit the $1,00,000 mark on your first pay in US post MS :D, go for Embedded Systems as it is System Software, board bring-up, designing software that is close and very tightly bound to hardware behavior. Also, being a S/W profile, you will get great pay but you need to learn Data Structures, Algo, OS fundamentals and a little bit of RTOS, rest you can learn in your MS or take up extra courses on coursera.
