If I have a latitude and longitude, how can I show that spot on a Google Map?
-
If I just want to show a map with a pin on it at a specific lat/long.

Answer:
The simplest way is a static map. Here's the URL format to create one with lat/lng and several other parameters you can adjust: http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?markers=39.904214%2C116.407413&size=400x300&zoom=2&maptype=terrain&sensor=false The api returns a png image, so you can pretty much treat it just like any other image <img src="URL" height="HEIGHT" width="WIDTH"> Note that the sensor param is required. For more info, here are the api docs: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/staticmaps/
