What is it like to live in a Rathaus Steglitz area in Berlin as an African American?

• Answer:

  I lived around there for 6 years and I would say it is rather safe - many families with kids there...(but I am a white German guy, so I could not be sure). In any case, as in any big city even I (as a white German 40year old guy who is not small and fragile looking) even in Steglitz I would not like to hang around alone at 3am in the morning in the S-Bahn or Subway stations.... There could always be some stupid drunk Nazi-Assholes or some angry young arabic kids on speed... But the risk of that in Steglitz probabably is much lower than in poorer neighbourhoods like in the north-east of Berlin. Steglitz mostly is a white suburb with some people of color (mostly from Turkey and North Africa, some Asians), I don´t see so many black people there. In any case: go to Rathaus Steglitz, walk around the shopping street "Schloßstrasse", check out the shopping centers "Schloss" and "Boulevard" and look the s-bahn and u-bahn stations... What you see is what you get :-)
