What online tagging sites are there?

Which geo tagging photo sites use embedded GPS compass data?

  • Google Maps and Google Earth both display placemarks of photos using embedded Lat and Long, but they don't appear to use embedded compass orientation metadata to indicate the direction the photo was taken.  I just saw the 360 Panorama iPhone App uses compass orientation. Anybody else already doing this? I found http://www.geospatialexperts.com/ and http://www.psigen.com/ but am thinking more about how cloud storage photosharing sites could use this feature than I am looking for a desktop app that does this.

::Rewrite:: You have a few things wrong here. First, Google Earth and Maps just display the data given to them. It is already possible in the display to have a placemark with an arrow that points in the direction of the photo. The same is true for Bing Maps (in fact, they do this in the demo video you posted.) But.... The placemarks that display photo locations are not auto-created by Google Earth/Maps. They are created by the photosharing service. So the service needs to read the lat/long, as they already do, then create a placemark with the photo, and then also read the compass data and rotate the placemark icon to display the direction. So far none of the major web photosharing sites have chosen to do this when they display on their maps. And it's up to them, since the ability to display in this manner already exists in Maps/Earth/Bing/Whatever. This sort of display also becomes complicated when multiple photos are taken close to each other. Google Earth handles this well, by displaying an "exploded" view of all of the placemarks. But Maps and Bing can only display one icon at a time for one location. Which one should it display? That's a hard question to answer. Why isn't this feature incorporated by everyone by now? Possibly because a stack of photos taken at the same place can't really show the compass data effective for multiple photos, as mentioned above. And stacks are pretty common, while compass data in EXIF is not very common.
