When you replace windows with ubuntu what does it do?

What steps should I follow to replace my Ubuntu-Windows 8 dual boot with a Debian-Windows 7 dual boot setup?

  • And also Currently I've my larger partition in windows which I want Linux to have. So where should i make the necessary changes? And any problems in moving from UBUNTU to DEBIAN?

  • Answer:

You've got too many questions rolled into one, but... installing Windows usually trashes your Linux install so it's best to make do with the windows you've got. Over time you will use it less and less anyhow. To give Linux a larger partition, run gparted from an install disk and enlarge the partition. Best to have a separate /home partition which you can access from other OS's, and you can install another OS without losing your data. If your system runs on Ubuntu, it will most probably run Debian, which it is based on.
