What is the medium of instruction in German and Austrian universities?

Why do Taiwanese universities not adopt English as medium of instruction unlike Hong Kong?

  • Answer:

Hong Kong is a former British colony so it's quite understandable why they might use English in education. Taiwan never was. A country will often adopt English as a language of instruction if its first language is a minor one (e.g. Swedish, Dutch). Taiwanese people, however, speak Chinese, one of the world's major languages. They don't really need to master English to survive and thrive in the wider world.
