What are some two years college majors?

Is it ever possible to make universities drop the first two years of college? What organization would need to approve of this change?

  • I am currently attending college and found 90% of the classes during my first two years in college a complete waste. The only classes I found useful were Nutrition and a couple other business related classes. Some will argue that the first two years allow one to "find themselves" and figure out what they want to do. I think that is BS. Almost everyone in the western world has access to libraries and the internet. Practically all of us can learn about any subject they want to know about. So if a state school costs $10,000 a year that totals up to $20,000 (potentially more if a student fails a class or two). Community college is probably around $5,000 a year but that is still $10,000 wasted if they don't fail any of their classes. This is also not adding up lost income they could have made if they had a job. Maybe it's just me but I feel that academia has really shafted our society with a lot of debt and the fact that they require students to take classes irrelevant to their future careers. The subjects taught during the first two years of school are basically just a re-packaging information taught in high school. To me, Universities appears to be taking advantage of their credential granting status by taking advantage of students by requiring them to spend twice as many years as necessary in college.
