Advantages / Benefits of Rooting in Android 1. Can install Latest Version of Android 2. Custom ROM’s 3. Can back up all the Device data onto memory card 4. Can Install Awesome Themes 5. Install Many Apps with Some awesome features. Disadvantage / demerits of Android Rooting 1. Security issues 2. Malfunctions of Your Android Device 3. Loss of Software and warranty.

Pros : Everything u can imagine in ur mind about the design (software) of ur phone can be changed. Boost up battery life by making those background running apps to hibernate or freeze Gain system(root) level privileges and go crazy Bash those apps who unnecessarily eat up ur data pack Firewall ur phone( although there are non rooted apps also ) Add custom ROMs and enjoy the different styles of Android Stay updated with latest OS upgrades without waiting endlessly for the manufacturers Enjoy SD card privileged apps Full Nandroid backup to cloud or your HDD Bloatware removal Overclock CPU and make it blazing fast Basically, Be your own boss Cons : Brick ur device , very little chance but still very costly Give superuser privileges to wrong application ( by wrong I mean malicious) Void warranty ( if ur device is in warranty and you don't know how to unroot it and before you could you do something wrong ) Overclock CPU too much and hurt your battery and processor

Pros: you will have more control over your phone, you can do lots of things with your phone like changing your screen resolution, fonts etc Cons: Sometimes security of data is compromised.

Well the main CON would be voiding your warranty. If something goes wrong, your device could be ruined. The Pros, as far as I know, include being able to install and use some applications that you wouldn't normally be able to install and use. (Many of them for good reasons). And to install different/custom Operating Systems. Some apps that require rooting include spying software (to record/track/transmit phone usage - messages, calls, location) and screen recording apps (potentially useful if you want to make tutorials or something but there are root-free alternatives) There are probably many more, but as yet, I personally have never found a reason to root my device where the benefit outweighs the risk.
