What are good places to visit for spring break in the US?
-
I'm interested in photography and want to travel around the US to explore interesting places and capture them on camera. Recommendations on cities to visit, things to do, restaurants to eat in and places to stay in are invited.

Answer:
As far as I know, Lake Havasu is a traditional go-spring-break place for young people from Arizona. More here: - http://www.golakehavasu.com/ - http://www.google.com/images?q=Lake+Havasu&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1920&bih=985 That if you want to participate... If you are saying that you want to travel in the spring break (because you have free time) then I would recommend you these places from Arizona which I visited (especially that you are interested in photography): Grand Canyon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon and http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=985&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=grand+canyon&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq= Monument Valley http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monument_Valley and http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=985&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=monument+valley&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq= Antelope Canyon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antelope_Canyon and http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=985&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=antelope+canyon&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq= Rainbow Bridge http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Bridge_National_Monument and http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=985&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=rainbow+bridge&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq= Lake Powell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Powell and http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=985&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=lake+powell&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq= Yuma Desert http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuma_Desert and http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=985&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=yuma+desert&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&oq= Canyon de Chelly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canyon_de_Chelly_National_Monument and http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=985&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=canyon+de+chelly&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq= The first five you can do it in one trip because they are quite close to each other (northern Arizona). You can also have trips along the Colorado river downstream and upstream of the Glen Canyon dam. Your base would be Page, Arizona and from there you go to all those five attractions. For the last two, your base would be Phoenix, AZ and from here you will go to both of them (about 3-4 hours east for Canyon de Chelly and about 3 hours south for Yuma desert). Another place I would recommend is Niagara Falls http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niagara_Falls and http://www.google.com/images?q=niagara+falls&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1920&bih=985

That depends on what you want to photograph. Are you hoping to capture the exciting bustle of large gathering of people, or are you hoping to focus on the landscape of the nation? I personally haven't explored much of the US yet, but i have plotted out road trips and potential travel destinations. One suggestion would be to visit the destination so popular for spring break in the US that it has been named the "Spring Break Capital of the World." This may not be what you were looking for in terms of photography, as the scene revolves mostly around college and high school students partying on the beach and going to bars & clubs at night. Then again, if your interests are street photography, or candid shots - then there ought to be plenty of interesting opportunities here. As for a hotel recommendation, one place specializing in the Spring Break experience is the Sandpiper Beacon. http://www.springbreakfunplace.com The area also includes LOTS of natural beauty too. Also known as the "World's Most Beautiful Beaches" due to the sugar white sandy beaches, that literally "squeak" in between your toes as you walk. There are also many great places to eat in the area, as it is along the Gulf Coast, so seafood is fresh and plentiful.
