What are good effective ways to prepare for an exam?

What are ways to prepare for chemistry as an optional subject for the UPSC mains exam in a single year?

  • Provided that she/he has a good idea of all the topics in http://B.Sc. chemistry but lacks their in-depth analysis. Is it possible? if so, how does one go about it? Please also mention your experience after following the expertise you give in this thread.

    In Hauz Khas, Delhi, there is a coaching institute, I guess its name is DIPS, it provides coaching for science subjects. I attended 2 demo classes, and found it to be very good. It can help you. PS- I changed my optional later for some reasons.

Follow the NCERT  chemistry test books of +1 and +2 and try to follow previous year question papers and latest findings in chemistry.

First of all I would suggest you to go through previous year question papers. If you are comfortable with Both the paper I and II. And you feel you can do that much study in a year, go for it. I would advice you to take proper guidance for this optional.And also go through this blog. http://abhijeetagrawal.blogspot.in/?m=1I'm also a chemistry graduate. After going through previous year question papers. I found Paper II difficult. So I dropped the plan of chemistry as an optional.

I don’t know about chemistry optional.I would suggest you to go through the syllabus and previous year question papers.
