Which potential job should I pursue?

What are some interesting hobbies, leisure activities, or passionate interests one can pursue after getting a job?

  • While in university, I had a limited budget for extra-curricular interests and an erratic schedule which made it difficult to passionately pursue a lot of activities. I spent most of my time :- reading, drawing, working out, jogging, playing computer games etc (basically activities which cost almost no money and had no time/location constraints) Now that I have finished my graduation, got a job, with a fixed schedule and my own money, I would like to try interesting activities but which I could not pursue due to the reasons mentioned. Some details : I will live in Mumbai with a salary of Rs 10+ lpa (lakhs per annum). Fixed 9am - 5pm on weekdays job. Less than Rs 2 lpa per year to be spent on travel, food and accommodation. Generally fit, outgoing and enthusiastic. I would love some suggestions on the lines of : 1. Boxing, Squash, Billiards, Rifle shooting etc 2. Water sports/Adventure sports :- Surfing, paragliding  3. Learning scuba-diving, river-rafting 4. Fun activities:- Paint-ball 5. Vehicle sports :- Wake-boarding All kinds of suggestions are welcome. It would be appreciated if you could share your own experiences and also list locations and approximate costs.

  • Answer:

I have similar schedules as you and live in Mumbai - so maybe my choice of hobbies and leisure activities may help. They may or not be expensive or something you couldn't afford earlier: Trekking: all around Maharashtra and Goa. And about once a year try to take off towards the Himalayan stretches. White water rafting: Between Jan - March in Rishikesh. The flight to and fro Dehradun makes this an extended weekend trip. Photography - nature, historical structures and citylife on a DSLR Dancing lessons - Have done Latin, Ballroom, Jive, Salsa et al Watch plays - Plenty to pick from schedules at Andrew's, Sophia's, NCPA and Prithvi Generally just travel to new places all over the world / country as the fancy takes me. Favorites are just all over India and Europe. Not half as fond of most Asian and North American destinations. Yet to discover Africa and South America - though I certainly intend to. Next on the list: Skiing at Auli/ Gulmarg, Padi diving certification at Andamans
