What are some celebrity commercials?

Does anything prevent companies from hiring celebrity impersonators to do anonymous voiceovers in commercials?

• Celebrities frequently do anonymous voiceovers, and it seems like it would be cheaper to get somebody to do an impression.  Also, I rarely recognize the celebrity voice without someone pointing it out. Have companies evaluated whether enough people do recognize the voices (maybe subconsciously) to make the presumably high endorsement fees worthwhile?

  When someone has a distinct recognizable voice, whether you go "is that Dennis Leary doing the VO on this Ford commercial?" or "that guy sounds familiar" it's probably worth it. Keep in mind an unknown VoiceOver actor still gets paid every time a spot runs. There is a cost savings but for a major brand compared to the overall media budget, which for a car company could be over 100 million, saving a fraction of it to hire an unknown would not be worth it. There are plenty of cases where, in lieu of a celeb you give casting a direction of someone who sounds similar. But if the money is there, one of the perks for agency and client is the opportunity to hang out with celebs.
