Where is the cheapest skiing in Europe?

What are good resorts for late season skiing that are also good for non-skiiers (in Europe)?

  • There are resorts good for late-season skiing, but they tend to be high & artificial / anonymous (eg Val Thorens). Conversely, those resorts with ambience and activities other than skiing tend to be older villages which are lower. Are there any that combine good skiing with atmosphere and activities for non-skiiers?

  • Answer:

Chamonix is open until about the 12th of May each year. It is a village located in a spectacular valley. If you really want the prettiest part of the valley try to stay in Argentière. Zermatt is a good option but towards the end of the season you are mostly skiing on a glacier. Both of these resorts will have plenty to do for non-skiers but Zermatt you do not need a car and can get most places on foot. Chamonix you will need a car or you can take public transport.

Chamonix, fine. Zermatt, touristy but fine. Davos can be good. Innsbruck is also commonly cited.

Yep, definitely Zermatt!

Zermatt in Switzerland s a good spot, very high and also fantastic for non-skier. Val d'Isère in France is awesome but less attractive for non-skiers
