Which is better college life or campus life and why?

How was the college life (on the lighter side like campus life, parties, dating(?)) in india in 90's?

  Well I am one of those who studied during the 90's, passed out in the early 90's though. I studied in an engineering college in Vizag, which at that time was more of a small town. Well the campus life in a small town engineering college is quite different from that of an elite college, or one of the more prestigious one. While my college was one of the more well known ones, it was not exactly IIT or NIT or BITS, it was more or less a second rung engineering college. But that did not prevent us from having fun in our own way. Campus Life:   The best thing about our college was that it was located right near the beach, so anytime we got bored, we would just hang out at the beach. Sometimes take a walk along the beach, all the way up to the city in a group. And yes we had our own inter departmental fests, freshers parties, college days, cultural and literary competitions, all of which added up to the fun. It was fun just hanging out on the campus, chit chatting, about girls, movies, cricket, sometimes it did go into politics too. Parties:  Well we had the official college parties but the bigger fun was the unofficial ones. That said most of our unofficial parties were exclusively all male bachelor ones, noisy, boisterous, involving heavy boozing, swearing. And even with girls, it was more sedate, generally being treated to some cool drinks and patties. Dating: Well we attended college in the pre Mobile, Net era, no Watsapp, FB or Twitter. The only way we could talk with females was via phone, and that's how it was. Of course nothing like waiting for the girl of your dreams to come to college, so that you could talk to her. Messages were sent through text books, or exam papers. Sometimes junior students were used as the courier boys to send love messages too. Well must say though, the dating scene in my college was quite thriving. I know at least 10-12 campus mates of mine, batchmates, juniors, who ended up having a love marriage with another girl in the same campus. And more often than not, we never really knew of the affair going on.
