Is dust bad for electronics?

What's the best way to manage dust in a computer/electronics environment?

  • Do any of the dust "ionizer" fans, etc, do a decent job?

  • Answer:

You can catch dust with static charge, but eventually you have to clean your catching device. You can put filters at your computer's air intakes, but then you have to clean the filters [1]. Or if you don't do anything, you'll have to clean your computer on occasion. Since you can't get away from cleaning, I'd say you're best off just cleaning your computer every once in a while. [1] and you need to run your fans more, because of the pressure loss due to the filters
