What's a good design pattern for bidirectional signals/events?

Are there any great examples of the "search and select" UI design pattern?

  • Problem: You want users to be able to publish data, but reuse the canonical version of that data if it already exists in the system. Current examples I've identified: * Quora's Search and Add Question Bar * Plancast's Search and Add Events Bar * Use Hipster's Search and Ask Bar
