What is the best time to start preparing for GRE?

I am a second year CSE student and I want to do an MS in CSE from a good university in the US. When Should I start preparing for the GRE?

    You can take the test in the later part of your third year to give yourself a head start and perhaps enough time to retake the test as well, if something goes wrong. You can start preparing 2-6 months before your exam depends on how good you are in Math and English. To find this out, take a sample test well in advance, know where you stand, and start preparing accordingly. The GRE subject test in Computer Science has been discontinued so you cannot take it.

Please do not prepare for GRE until 4-6 months before you wanna take it. Which should be in the first half of your final year. It is not necessary to take it too early and you have no real advantage. Your time will be better spent if you try improving your overall marks and you would be having core subjects now so learn them well and score high. GRE is just one part (sometimes small) of your overall application to university. Your GPA matters a lot too. Focus on that. GRE is easier (much).
