How can I migrate my GTalk contacts to a new GTalk account?

  • There are nice tutorials on how to fetch mail and migrate GMail contacts from your old account, but I'd like a seamless, easy way to "copy" my GTalk contacts to the new account.

    As of a few weeks ago, the G voice contacts list was merged with Gmail contacts (and Google+) and it is now one and the same list. You can export your contacts to a CSV format from your old account to your local PC, and than import that file to your new account. The simplest way is to go to your contacts at http://google.com/contacts and select export from top right, probably select all contacts if you wish and keep the default format and export. Then login to the same page with your new account, or open it in another browser and import there using the link adjacent to export.

i found a better way if you run os x. in ichat copy all your contacts from your existing jabber account to the new account, it will automatically notify all of your contacts that you want to be added.
