What is the best way to clean LEGO bricks?

What happens to all of the LEGO bricks that are made every year?

  • Some statistics claim that 19 billion LEGO bricks are made each year. That's a lot of bricks! If you owned LEGO bricks, what happened to yours? Did you donate them, sell them, give them away, or still have them? Where do most bricks go 10 or 20 years after one receives them?

  • Answer:

I suspect that the percentage of bricks that get landfilled has declined over the years as LEGO's value (intrinsic and monetary) has become more well understood. So I suspect most modern bricks end up in toyboxes, attics, or donated to day care centers. Some get gross enough to get discarded but if I were taking a guess, I'd bet than 80% of all bricks are stil around. thanks for the A2A

It's probably a mystery like where all those bic pens go that are created each year :) In my family, Lego was not something that was sold. It is handed to the next generation, becoming more and more each time.

A fair portion of them are under my sofa cushions and behind the dresser.
